New Delhi: Everton’s manager David Moyes is all set to lead in his 700th Premier League game when his side visits Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday. The Scottish manager was recently appointed as Everton’s manager for the second time succeeding Sean Dyche just a couple of weeks ago.

Aside from his stint with Everton, he has managed West Ham United on two spells along with short stints with Manchester United and Sunderland. He will become only the third person to cross the milestone behind French manager Arsene Wenger leading Arsenal in 828 games and Sir Alex Ferguson leading United in 810 games.

When asked about the feat Moyes reacted that it was “incredible” and clearly hadn’t expected to become a Premier League manager let alone lead in 700 games. Moyes though felt that he was unlikely to match the incredible achievement of the two managers who are ahead of him.

The Saturday game will also be a duel between the league’s oldest manager Moyes at 61 facing the youngest manager of the league, Brighton’ Fabian Hurzeler at 31. The feat shows the amazing longevity that the Scotsman has had given that he was the youngest Premier League manager when he first took the helm of Everton back in 2002 when Sir Bobby Robson was the senior manager in the competition, 30 years older than Moyes.

Moyes noted that Sir Bobby had given him a few words of advice and concluded that he was lucky to be given chances by clubs to witness the changes over the years.

Dwight McNeil might undergo surgery

In the last weekend, Moyes registered his first win in his second spell with Everton, with a 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, which puts them four points clear of the relegation zone. However, they are dealt with a blow as midfielder Dwight McNeil is likely to undergo surgery for a knee injury that has kept him on the sidelines for seven games.

The 25-year-old has made three goals and three assists this season and plays a major part in Everton’s attacking ploy. Moyes suspected that McNeil was likely to undergo surgery. Moyes noted that McNeil is important for the side’s set-pieces and delivery.

With Everton in talks with Chelsea for Armando Broja to end his season-long loan spell early due to an ankle injury, the striker’s future remains bleak. Moyes has said that though there are talks, a final decision hasn’t been taken and kept the door open for additions before the end of the window.
