The Argentine superstar, who suffered a horrific ankle injury during the Copa America 2024 final against Colombia last week, is holidaying with her wife Antonella Roccuzzo in Florida. Despite Messi’s absence for the last half an hour, Argentina managed to eke out a win against Colombia to win a record 16th Copa America title in Florida last Sunday.
Messi will miss the Major League Soccer’s All-Star Game on Wednesday due to an ankle injury. The Inter Miami superstar alongside his club teammate Luis Suarez is down with injuries and will be absent from the All-Star Game against Mexico’s Liga MX All-Stars at Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday.
While Messi is nursing an ankle injury, Suarez is suffering from a niggle in his knee.
Making full use of the break, Messi is holidaying in Florida with his wife Antonela and Suarez. Messi’s wife shared dreamy pictures from the vacation on her Instagram. In the pictures, Messi’s foot could be seen strapped by a heavy bandage.
Messi’s return in doubt
The severity of Messi’s ankle injury is still unknown but looking at the heavy bandage, he is likely to be out of action for at least a month. The record Eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi, who helped Argentina to the 2022 World Cup title and 2024 Copa America win, led Miami to the inaugural Leagues Cup crown in 2023.
But his participation remains in doubt for Saturday’s home match against Mexican club Puebla, Inter Miami’s first challenge in defending the Leagues Cup title.
