New Delhi: The South Korean DongHun Choi defeated Indian MMA sensation Angad Bisht via split decision in the ‘Road to UFC’ semi-final fight in UFC Apex arena in Las Vegas on August 24, Saturday. The fight was in the flyweight division and both fighters gave their best in the bout but unfortunately, Angad lost the fight by a little margin.
Angad started the fight comfortably by punching a couple of times to Choi and started round one on a high note. Angad then cracked Choi’s nose with a right hook causing much more damage to Choi. But South Korean came much more prepared in the second round and returned the favor to Angad as he took a couple of knockdowns in round two.
In the last round, the fight was more competitive and both fighters fought sensibly in the last round but at the last moment, South Korean landed on a much happier side as three out of two judges gave a result in the favour of Choi and Choi won the fight via split decision (29-28,28-29,29-28).
Choi will now fight ‘so-called’ Indian-origin Kiru Sahota in the grand finale of the Road to IUFC season 3 in the Flyweight division. Sahota won the first semi-final against Ruel Panales via unanimous decision. It was pure dominance from Sahota in the fight as he won all rounds in the fight and didn’t give a single chance to Panales to come back in the fight.
