New Delhi: Many Indian fans were disappointed after BCCI announced the squads for the Duleep Trophy 2024. Most of them were expecting the star cricketers Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah to feature in the domestic tournament but the selectors and BCCI wanted them fresh for the upcoming home season.
The Duleep will start on September 5 in Bengaluru and Anantapur and the format of the tournament has been changed. This edition of the Duleep Trophy will feature four teams- India A, India B, India C and India D. The teams for the tournament have been selected by Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee.
The tournament is crucial for the preparations of the main Indian players ahead of the busy Test season. Likes of Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant will participate in the tournament.
BCCI on Tuesday announced that all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been released from the tournament while fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik won’t participate in the tournament due to their recovery from recent illness.
Team India will face Bangladesh in the two-match Test series, starting on September 19. After that, the Men in Blue will take on New Zealand in the three-match Test series. Rohit and Co. will also tour Australia for the five-match Test series in late November.

India has played 249 international matches in the last 5 years. Rohit has played only 59% of those. Virat 61 % & Bumrah 34%. I see them as well rested India players. Could have been selected for the Duleep trophy.
