New Delhi: Manchester City certainly faced a massive scare against West Ham, as it was a wonderful attacking encounter between two strong sides at the London Stadium. However, in the end it was Manchester City yet again who maintained their hundred percent record in the initial phases of the campiagn. It was Erling Haaland yet again who produced a top class performance for Pep’s side to guide them to a 3-1 win against the Hammers.
Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick to preserve Manchester City’s pristine record for the second week in a row as the unrivaled Premier League winners cruised over West Ham at London Stadium. The match started off with both the sides looking to take an early advantage but it was City who looked much more threatening in the first few minutes of the game. Their urgency and risk taking was finally rewarded after the little magician Bernardo Silva, stole the ball in the eney territory to play a precise pass to Haaland, who made no mistake in putting it past Areola to make it 1-0 in the 10th minute of the game.
However, West Ham were brave and did not back down as they kept on threatening and were rewarded just nine minutes after Haaland’s opening goal. Jarrod Bowen was allowed to run towards the City box and he managed to put in a dangerous cross which was met by the unfortunate Ruben Dias as the ball found the net.
West Ham were levelled thanks to that own goal from the City defender. However, Haaland was on target yet again, as this time it was Rico Lewis who found the Norwegian who rifled his shot past Areola, from the edge of the box to get the lead back for City. West Ham kept on threatening as they put up a good shift as their attakcers were constantly causing problems for the City defence. However, they failed to capitalise on those chances and were eventually punished yet again in the second half as it was Haaland who completed his hattrick after Matheus Nunes made a good run, rolling the ball into the path of Haaland as he finihed it past the substitute keeper Fabianski.
Player of the match: Erling Haaland
It is always hard to choose someone else we know a player has scored a hattrick to guide his team to a convincing win. However, there were certain other contenders, such as Bernardo Silva, who was everywhere on the pitch, Rico Lewis and Kevin De Bruyne, who did their job pretty well, but in the end it was Haaland who caught the headline thanks to his wonderful hattrick. Haaland has scored seven goals so far, thus there is now no question as to who is atop the goals scoring table. Ever since he joined the Sky Blues, he has been a threat, and this season he is once again prepared to assist City in winning the Premier League for the fifth time in a row.
What a performance it was from Pep’s men as City were able to cruise past West Ham United, thanks to a wonderful hattrick by Erling Haaland. Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
