For a country that has set its target on turning into a developed economy by 2047, economic and infrastructure development becomes the bedrock of nation building and the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is pursuing it with full-throttle, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on September 18 as the government reached 100 days in office.
The home minister emphasised how investments and the programme of infrastructure development continued in the country in the new government.
Rs 3 trillion in 100 days
He said that as much as Rs 3 trillion has been funnelled into different sectors by the current government in the limited period of 100 days. Like the two earlier governments that Modi led, the current administration is focussing on infrastructure. Examples of this thrust include the commissioning of new runways at airports in Varanasi, Bagdogra and two other places, which are supposed to help in boosting connectivity that is essential for economic growth.
Port, metro
Work on building a mega port in Wadhawan, Maharashtra has been initiated.
Among the big cities, the country’s information technology capital of Bengaluru has received a boost in metro services which can relieve the city of chronic traffic snarls, further boosting the attraction of the city to investors and professionals alike.
An increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops has been implemented which can lead to a rise in the rural income levels that could trigger a demand in rural consumption.
Rural roads, agri startups
The administration has okayed strengthening of the road network at an outlay of Rs 50,600 crore. This package includes 8 National High-Speed Road Corridor Projects of 936 km. To boost rural connectivity, as many as 25,000 unconnected villages have been linked with road networks. To support agri startups, the government has launched a new fund named Agrisure. It would also help rural enterprises.
Under the umbrella of Lakhpati Didi Yojana, 1.1 million women have been enlisted in 100 dys and the number of women earning Rs 1 lakh plus a year has exceeded 1 crore, the home minister mentioned.
The landmark of 100 days is significant for the Modi 3.0 government since this is the first coalition government that Narendra Modi is leading and apprehensions had gained ground that the compulsions of coalition politics would decelerate the administration’s reform programme.
From a new mega port in Maharashtra to fixing MSP in crops, the NDA government led by Narendra Modi is pushing infrastructure and grassroots welfare simultaneously. Biz News Business News – Personal Finance News, Share Market News, BSE/NSE News, Stock Exchange News Today
