New Delhi: Fast bowler Haris Rauf created history as he became Pakistan’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is after taking 4 wickets against Australia in the second T20I at Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney on Saturday.
Australia batted first and scored 147 runs in the 20 overs. Rauf performed brilliantly and removed Jake-Fraser McGurk, Josh Inglis, Tim David and Xavier Bartlett. He gave away 22 runs and picked up 4 wickets in his four overs.
Rauf Equals Shadab Khan’s record
After taking 4 wickets, Rauf equalled Shadab Khan’s record of 107 wickets to become the joint leading wicket-taker for Pakistan in T20Is. He took just 72 innings to reach the milestone while Shadab took 96 innings. Rauf made his T20I debut in January 2020 and achieved the milestone in just four years.

His 4/22 is the best bowling figure by a visiting bowler in Australia. He surpassed Nuwan Kulasekara’s 4/31 to achieve this feat. He has picked up 15 wickets on the Australia tour so far.

Australia beat Pakistan by 11 runs
Australia defeated Pakistan by 11 runs in the second T20I at Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney on Saturday. Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matthew Short stitched a 52-run partnership for the opening wicket after Josh Inglis opted to bat first. Haris Rauf removed Fraser-McGurk (20) and Inglis in the same over while Abbas Afridi removed Short on 32 runs. Maxwell, Hardie and Tim David also made some crucial contributions with the bat in tough conditions as Australia scored 147/9 in 20 overs.
Chasing the 148-run target, Pakistan got off to a poor start as Nathan Ellis removed Babar Azam on 3 runs. Usman Khan and Irfan Khan forged a 58-run partnership for the fifth wicket. But Spencer Johnson and Adam Zampa picked up crucial wickets as Pakistan bundled out for 134 runs in the 19.4 overs.
