New Delhi: A total of 23 Indians who were working in the production and broadcast teams of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) returned to the country amid cross-border tensions in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.
The Pakistan goverment had earlier ordered the Indian nationals to leave the country by April 30 following escalation of tensions after terrorists killed 26 tourists in Kashmir on April 22.
“The Indian nationals all returned home via the Wagah border from Lahore,” a Pakistan Cricket Board official told PTI.
The company producing and broadcasting PSL matches had hired Indian cameramen and technicians to ensure top quality of coverage and were forced to hire foreign and local cameramen and technicians to fill the void of the Indian crew.
“Since more than two dozen of the production and broadcast crew of the PSL, included Indian nationals. Steps are being taken to replace them. The broadcast and production crew includes engineers, production managers, cameramen, player-tracking experts (all Indian nationals), who ensure a smooth coverage of the PSL,” a PCB source had told PTI earlier last week.
Pakistan gave a 48-hour deadline for all Indian nationals to leave the country after conducting a meeting of its National Security Council in Islamabad last Thursday.
Till their departure, the Indian crew members in Pakistan were told to restrict their movements. Meanwhile, Fancode has suspended telecast of the PSL in India after the attack.
