New Delhi: World no. 3 Amanda Lemos will take on World No. 5 Virna Jandiroba at UFC Apex stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 21. Brazilian Lemos and Jandiroba both will fight off in a crucial match to push themselves for a title shot in the women’s strawweight division.
Lemos got his title shot at UFC 292 but fell short to win her maiden UFC title. After the defeat from Strawweight champion Zhang Weili Lemos got back on her winning track by defeating Mackenzie Dern at UFC 298. The 37-year-old Brazilian will put everything on line to get one more shot at the women’s strawweight title.
Meanwhile, Jandiroba is on a three-fight-win streak against the Top 10 fighters. She will be fighting to earn a title shot against Weili as no one is confirmed to fight next against the champion, with a dominant victory against Lemos Jandiroba will definitely be one step closer to a title shot.
In the co-main event, Brad Tavares will cross paths against Park Jun-Yong in the middleweight division. The 36-year-old veteran will be in his 14th successive year in UFC which makes him one of the longest continually tenure fighters in the roaster. Tavares is coming from a loss by being knocked out by Gregory Rodrigues and just 1-3 in his last four fights.
Park is also coming from a loss against Andre Muniz last December and will be back in action after long seven months. Both fighters will be fighting to enter in top-15 rankings as currently both of them are out of the UFC middleweight rankings.
