New Delhi: Pakistan speedster Shaheen Afridi has found himself in the headlines for all the wrong reasons after media reports claimed that he allegedly misbehaved with head coach Gary Kirsten and others in the coaching staff during the recently-concluded T20 World Cup 2024. Multiple media reports claimed that the managers accompanying the team were aware if the situation but they still did not take an action in this regard.
While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) did not say anything on the topic, Shaheen took to social media to post a cryptic message. He posted a video of himself bowling at the nets along with the caption – “Rise Above”.

The news regarding the pace bowlers misbehaviour was first out on Geo News and subsequently many other media outlets in Pakistan. “Shaheen misbehaved with the coaches and management during recent tours but no action was taken by the team managers on the pacer’s inappropriate behaviour,” sources told Geo News.
The report added that maintaining discipline in the team was the responsibility of the mangers which is why it is being investigated why action was not taken against the pace bowler despite misbehaviour. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed that they had notified Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz that their services would no longer be required in the national selection committee set-up.
While Razzaq was a part of the men’s and women’s selection committees, Wahab was a selector of the men’s team. Due to lack of discipline, Wahab was also removed from the position of senior team managed along with the manager of the team Rana Mansoor. The Pakistan cricket team along with the board is witnessing turmoil from last year after their performances faced a major dip at the big events.
