Andhra Pradesh Cabinet began its first meeting on Monday, and the big issues up for discussion include fulfilling poll promises, restarting of Amaravati Capital project, Polavaram Irrigation project, disbursement of increased social security pensions.
The cabinet meeting is being held at First Block of the Secretariat in Velagapudi, Amaravati.
Five decisions ratified:
Chandrababu Naidu signed five files after taking charge as Chief Minister and these files include Mega DSC, cancellation of Land Titling Act, increase of pension amount to Rs.4,000, restoration of Anna canteens and skill census and the cabinet has given approval for these decisions in the meeting.
The Mega DSC notification was ratified in the meeting as officials placed DSC schedule in front of the cabinet. The process will begin on July 1 and the schedule to fill 16,347 teacher posts will conclude by December 2024.
The cabinet is also expected to make a decision regarding the release of white papers to inform the actual status in various departments.
Chandrababu Naidu, who is paying personal attention to Amaravati and Polavaram, visited the irrigation project last week and will likely conduct a review on a weekly basis every Monday. He also inspected pending structures in Amaravati and is keen to revive it as the state capital. At least Rs 1 lakh crore is required to rejuvenate Amaravati structures, as per official estimates.
