A man identified as Sampath Kumar, was found murdered in Dharmavaram pond area of Sri Sathya Sai district in Andhra Pradesh, tv9 telugu reported.
Police identified him as a lawyer and the National Secretary of NSUI, the student wing of the Congress Party.
Unidentified people hacked him to death with a machete, police said. They suspect that the killers hacked him to death elsewhere and dumped the dead body near the Dharmavaram pond.
A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
Sampath Kumar was seen walking alongside Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during Bharat Jodo Yatra in Andhra Pradesh in October 2022.
