New Delhi: Australia posted a massive total of 298 for six in the third and final Women’s ODI against India despite a sensational spell from pacer Arundhati Reddy on Wednesday in Perth. Annabel Sutherland (110 off 95) was the star of the show for the hosts, who recovered after Reddy struck four times in quick succession to register career-best figures in limited-overs cricket.
Trailing 0-2 in the series, India chose to bowl at the WACA ground but failed to get the breakthrough in the first powerplay with Phoebe Litchfield (25 off 33) and Georgia Voll (26 off 30) getting off to a good start at the iconic ground.
Reddy shines with new ball
However, Reddy in her fifth appearance, dismissed both openers in a space of four balls. Reddy got the ball to swing while her bowling partners Renuka Thakur and Saima Thakor struggled to get any help from the pitch. Arundhati then struck gold by dismissing superstar all-rounder Elysse Perry.
The Indian pacer bamboozled Perry, one of the greatest batters of all time, with a peach of a delivery that held its line to hit the top of the off-stump. Beth Mooney was the next batter to depart leaving Australia at 78 for four from 58 for no loss.
One of the best spells by an Indian in Overseas!! Absolutely Top Class by Arundhati Reddy!!💥🙌👏#India #Australia #AUSvIND #TeamIndia #AUSWvINDW pic.twitter.com/jvev47Q4ul

Sutherland, Gardner and McGrath punish sloppy India
But Sutherland and Ashleigh Gardner (50 off 64) steadied the ship for the home side and shared a 96-run stand for the fifth wicket. Sutherland acted as the aggressor and smashed all the bowlers, especially the spinners, smashing two fours and a six off Deepti Sharma in the 40th over.
India were poor in the field, grassing three tough chances and making a lot of misfields.
Australia skipper Tahlia McGrath (56 not out off 50) and Sutherland then pushed the score close to 300. Sutherland reached a hundred in style by smashing Deepti for a massive six over mid-wicket in the final over of the innings.
