New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Riyan Parag faced flak on social media after a video of his ‘unruly’ behaviour went viral. Parag led the Rajasthan Royals to their first win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Sunday, defeating five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 6 runs at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
RR bounced back to winning ways after losing their first two matches of the season. However, skipper Parag found himself on the receiving end of criticism online despite the victory. In the clip that went viral on social media, Parag was seen taking a selfie with a group of fans inside the ground following his team’s victory against CSK.
After taking a picture, the RR skipper threw the phone back to the fans, leaving fans angered as the video went viral. Parag was bashed for showing ‘unnecessary attitude’ and poor behaviour, as many pointed out that the cricketer needs to learn how to conduct himself. The group of fans were reportedly Assam Police personnel who attended the much-awaited game at the Barsapara Stadium.

While he managed to earn his first win as captain for the Rajasthan Royals, Parag also did well with the bat in the game. He scored a valuable 37 runs off 28 balls while batting at no.4 to help his team post a strong total of 182 runs, which was defended successfully by the RR bowlers in the end.
CSK suffer 2nd straight defeat
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings suffered their second consecutive defeat in IPL 2025 after their loss against Rajasthan Royals. CSK got off to a good start with a win against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in their opening game of the season, but the five-time champions have since lost back-to-back matches against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Rajasthan Royals.
It was another batting failure for CSK in their clash against RR on Sunday a the top order failed to get the team off to a good start, while MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja failed to get the team over the line as finishers. CSK were 129/5, requiring 54 runs off 25 balls when Dhoni walked out to bat at no.7 with Jadeja in the middle.
The match was in CSK’s grasp, but the duo scored only 14 runs off the next 13 balls, letting the game drift away. Dhoni ended up with 16 off 11 balls after trying to up the ante in the final two overs but was eventually dismissed by Sandeep Sharma in the last over as RR sealed a comfortable victory by 6 runs in the end.
