Arne Slot believes Manchester United ‘much better’ than league table reflects

New Delhi: As Sunday’s clash is set to take place between Manchester United and Liverpool, the Merseyside manager noted that the Red Devils are a better side than what is reflected on the points table. Liverpool are clear at the top by six points and are the top contenders to win the Premier League after reaching the halfway point of the season.

A win would give them their 20th top-flight title, equal to United’s record, who are currently placed at 14th in the points table. Under new manager Ruben Amorim, Man United have lost five of their last six games in the league. However, Slot, having joined English football at the start of the season, has dismissed that some of his players might get rested.

Slot noted that it is a big game and all of his players will be available for selection. Talking about their first game of the league this season, the 46-year-old said that despite their 3-0 win back then, he had always said that the game was a big one at Old Trafford. Slot further said that United had many quality players contrary to what the result might reflect on the table.

Further, the Dutch manager noted that Amorim would improve United’s performance over a certain timeframe, recognizing the immense pressure that Premier League managers are on. Slot commented that all managers sympathized with each other owing to the pressure in the competition. Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag after being unable to turn around United’s fortunes.

Amorim has led the side to four wins in 11 games across competitions. United’s last win across all competition was a last-minute victory against their city rivals Manchester City in the middle of December and have lost four games, including three times in the Premier League.

While talking to the media Slot also addressed rumours around Trent Alexander-Arnold moving to Real Madrid, after entering the final six months of his contract at Anfield at the start of the year along with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. Slot commented that the 26-year-old is still very much committed to Liverpool’s success.

The Liverpool manager “hoped” that the defender continued his good run from the first half of the season. Salah has been in amazing form as well with the Egyptian international scoring 17 times and making 13 assists in the league this season.

Ahead of their clash against Manchester United in the weekend, Liverpool manager Arne Slot has suggested that Manchester United have more quality player than their current performance may suggest.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
