New Delhi: Arshad Nadeem and Neeraj Chopra’s top two podium finishes at the Paris Olympics 2024 has been a revelation of South Asian athlete’s dominance in track and field events at the grandest stage.
Just three years ago in Tokyo, it was Neeraj who took the gold and Nadeem finished fifth in the 12-men final event. There was a climax in Paris when the 27-year-old Pakistan hurled the javelin for a whopping distance of 92.97m to break the Olympic record after 16 years. With just one legal throw on the cards, Neeraj ensured a silver medal with what was his career’s second-best throw in 89.45m.
Both the throws were recorded in the second attempt and that was the tale of India-Pakistan rivals claiming the top two spots on the podium. The medal ceremony of men’s javelin throw was conducted on Friday. Following the ceremony, both Neeraj and Arshad spoke to the official broadcaster of Paris Olympics in India – Sports18 network and JioCinema (for digital).
Both athletes were asked that which actor should portray each other’s roles in case a biopic film was supposed to be made on their careers.
While Neeraj recommended legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan of his youth tine to play Nadeem’s role but not anyone from the current lot. On the other hand, the Pakistani athlete took his time to think before naming iconic star Shah Rukh Khan to play Neeraj Chopra’s role in his future biopic.

Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem have been competing against each other ever since they first met at the 2016 South Asian Games in Guwahati. Neeraj always had the upper hand in this rivalry with triumphs in Tokyo Olympics and World Championships in Hungary last year.
