New Delhi: In an unprecedent spectacle of a cricket match, a father took a catch while his son was bowling. It turns into amusing only to learn that the father was not in the field but among the spectators in the stands, and the son was the bowler on the pitch. This scene happened during the match No.31 between Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide on Saturday.
In the fourth over of the Brisbane Heat innings, Nathan McSweeney smashed Adelaide Strikers debut pacer Liam Haskett for a six with an exemplary pull shot over deep square leg. The ball went in the first level of the Sir Edwin Smith stand. Interestingly, a spectator was positioned well enough to take a brilliant catch in the stands. The man who took the catch was nobody but the father of the bowler Liam – Lloyd Haskett.

That wasn’t the only six Haskett was smashed for in the innings, there were three more dispatched off his bowling. Michael Nesser hit back-to-back against him in the second over while Tom Aslop pummelled him one in the 17th over. Haskett didn’t had a great start to his Big Bash career, conceding 43 runs from just three overs at an economy rate of 14.30. He picked up a couple of wickets with Nesser and Aslop falling to him.
Adelaide Strikers eventually won by 56 runs as they defended their gigantic 251 in the first innings. Thanks to the scintillating knock from opener Matthew Short (109 in 54 balls) complemented by the efforts of Chris Lynn (47 runs in 20 balls) and Alex Ross (44 runs in 19 balls).
Heat were bundled up for 195 in the second innings after D’Arcy Short picked up figures of 4 for 15. Haskett and Lloyd Pope picked up two wickets each.
