New Delhi: In a day of setbacks, Australian team suffered couple of more major blows as skipper Pat Cummins and senior pacer Josh Hazlewood were ruled out of the marquee Champions Trophy 2025 due to injuries. This comes after star all-rounder Marcus Stoinis announced a shock retirement from the 50-over format on Thursday, hitting the Aussies’ CT 2025 campaign badly.
Skipper Cummins is yet to recover from the ankle niggle he sustained towards the ending phase of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India while Hazlewood, who’s campaign in the BGT 2024-25 was hampered by injuries, continues to recover from a calf strain. The eight-team showpiece event begins on February 19 in Pakistan and the Aussies have 6 days in hand till February 12 to make four changes to their 15-member provisional squad.
