New Delhi: Pakistan batter Azam Khan is currently playing for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 and has not enjoyed the best of times with the bat. Azam has struggled for runs and was involved in a bizarre dismissal in his side’s clash against Antigua & Barbuda Falcons. The Pakistan batter got hit on his neck by a bouncer and lost his wicket while going down on the ground.
The incident happened in the 12th over of Guyana Amazon Warriors’ run chase after Azam Khan arrived in the middle at no.5. The Pakistan batter was batting on 9 runs after a steady start when a lethal bouncer from pacer Shamar Springer saw him getting hit on his neck. The ball hit Azam’s shoulders before hitting him on the neck and crashing into the stumps as the bails lit up.
Azam was trying to go for a pull shot on the bouncer from the pacer. However, he ended up getting hit on his neck after losing control and also lost his wicket in the process. He was dismissed in one of the most bizarre manners and was seen holding his neck in pain. The video of the Pakistan batter’s dismissal caught the attention of fans.

Azam was sent back after scoring 9 off 9 balls as Guyana Amazon Warriors lost their 4th wicket in the 169-run chase. It was not an ideal start to his campaign for the Pakistan wicket-keeper batter, who would have hoped to take his team over the line while staying in the middle.
Azam’s departure left the Warriors in a tricky spot on 77/4 in the 12th over. However, cameos from Romario Shepherd (32 off 16) and Dwaine Pretorius (20 off 10) helped them pull off a heist on the last ball of the game. Guyana Amazon Warriors won the game by 3 wickets at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua to bag their first victory in the tournament.
