New Delhi: In the aftermath of the first Test loss against England in Multan, the Pakistan selectors have taken some bold calls, dropping senior players from the squad ahead of the second Test at the same venue. Star batter Babar Azam and frontline pacers Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah faced the axing with the Pakistan Cricket Board announcing a new 16-member squad for the remaining two Test matches of the series.
The release from the PCB mentions that Babar, Shaheen, Naseem, and former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, who wasn’t part of the playing XI in the first Test, have been rested for the last two matches keeping mind the future assignments of the team in the 2024-25 season.
Pakistan squad for the 2nd and 3rd Test vs England : Shan Masood (captain), Saud Shakeel (vice-captain), Aamir Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Haseebullah (wicket-keeper), Kamran Ghulam, Mehran Mumtaz, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Huraira, Mohammad Rizwan (wicket-keeper), Noman Ali, Saim Ayub, Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha and Zahid Mehmood.
