New Delhi: Star Indian badminton duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty entered the quarterfinal of the India Open 2025. The shuttlers defeated Japan’s Hiroki Okamura and Kenya Mitsuhashi by 20-22, 21-14, 21-16 in the round of 16 game played at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on Thursday, January 16.
The currently ranked World No.7 pair wrapped the game in 72 minutes and remains just one win away from making it to the final of the India Open Super 750 badminton tournament, which is organised by the Badminton World Federation (BWF). The Japanese pair won the first set but Satwik and Chirag made a brilliant comeback and won the next two sets and qualified for the quarterfinals.

Sindhu storms into quarterfinal
Former champion PV Sindhu also stormed into the quarter-final of the India Open 2025. She defeated Japan’s Manami Suizu by 21-15, 21-13 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium on Thursday, January 16.
Sindhu looked in complete control of the match and finished the game in just 46 minutes. The local crowd was also rooting for the superstar shuttler’s win.
After the match, Sindhu said that she was happy that she could give her 100 percent in the game. She further added that she need to get back and recover for tomorrow.
“Yeah, I am very happy. I was playing with her for the first time. There were some long rallies. I am happy that I could give my 100 percent. I need to get back and recover for tomorrow and come back stronger” Sindhu said after the win.
