New Delhi: There have always been several shake-ups in the rankings after a Grand Slam, and as expected, after the Roland Garros final, there have been a fair share of changes. Few players are even celebrating career-high rankings that reflect strong performances in Paris.
While the top three men- Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, and Alexander Zverev have retained their spots at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3, respectively, the rest of the Top 10 looks different. Sinner, despite losing the final, kicks off his 50th consecutive week as World No.1, joining the elite club as the fifth player in the ATP rankings.
The Italian’s No.1 spot is in no immediate danger as No. 2-ranked Sinner trails by over 1,500 points and No.3 Zverev by over 3,000 points. Jack Draper’s consistent performance at Roland Garros, having reached the fourth round for the first time, got him to No.4 in the rankings. This is a huge milestone for the British as he stands tied with Greg Rusedski and Tim Henman, trailing just behind Andy Murray, who topped the rankings back in 2016.
Another big mover is Lorenzo Musetti as he climbed to a career-best No. 6 after his impressive semifinal run in Paris. That achievement ties him with Matteo Berrettini as the third-highest-ranked Italian player ever. Only Adriano Panatta (No. 4) and current world No. 1 Jannik Sinner have ranked higher.
Tommy Paul also made headlines with his new ranking. After reaching the quarterfinals at Roland Garros, his third quarterfinal in the last four majors, Paul rises from No. 12 to No. 8, a career high.
With Taylor Fritz holding firm at No. 7, this marks the first time since July 2008 that two American men are ranked in the Top 8 at the same time. Back then, it was Andy Roddick at No. 6 and James Blake at No. 8.

Over in the WTA rankings, a 22-year-old French player, Lois Boisson, was the talk of the town after a dream run to the semifinals at Roland Garros. She was ranked No. 361 before the tournament, but she stunned the tennis world by reaching the final four in her first-ever main draw appearance at a Grand Slam. She now climbed to No.65 this week, shattering her previous best ranking of No. 152.
Aryna Sabalenka retains the No.1 spot while Iga Swiatek drops from No.2 to No.7. Canada’s Victoria Mboko also made a name for herself in Paris as she reached the main draw of a major for the first time and went on to reach the third round. The 18-year-old broke into the Top 100 at No.91.
Meanwhile, Amanda Anisimova, who cracked the Top 20 in February after lifting her first WTA 1000 trophy in Doha, continues her upward trajectory. Her run to the fourth round in Paris bumps her from No. 16 to No. 15, marking another step in a promising season for the American.
