New Delhi: Sydney Thunder skipper David Warner struck in a bizarre incident against Hobart Hurricane at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart on January 10, Friday. In the third over of the match, Riley Meredith bowled a full-length delivery and Warner tried to play a drive shot.

Warner broke his bat on the ball and a piece of his bat struck him on the head. He didn’t injure himself but fans enjoyed the bizarre moment in the match. After the incident, Warner underwent the concussion test and was allowed to continue his innings.

Warner made a great half-century against the Hurricanes and scored 88 runs in 66 balls with seven boundaries. The 38-year batter took care of one end after the wickets were falling from the other end.

There was also a bizarre moment that happened between the Thunder and Hurricanes match. In the 14th over, Meredith was bowling to Sam Billings and Billings played a shot on on-side and Warner was running in the bowling end.

Fielder threw the ball in the bowler’s end and it ricocheted off Warner’s bat and went to the long off. Nathan Ellis chased the ball and tried to stop the boundary but the momentum took him onto the advertisement hoardings and he struck his head onto the boards.

After the incident, he left the ground but came back in the power surge over and bowled his two overs in the death.

Sydney Thunder post 164 runs in 20 overs

Hobart Hurricane won the toss and elected to field first against Thunder. They utilise the new ball and couldn’t bowl loose balls as Hurricane’s bowlers just gave 22 runs in the first powerplay of the match.

After the successful Test series against India, Sam Kontas couldn’t carry the momentum in the BBL and departed on just four runs in nine balls. Warner was standing in one end but from the other ends, wickets were fallin’.

Sam Billings played a handy innings of 28 runs in 15 balls and with Warner’s finishing touches, Thunder posted 164 runs in 20 overs.
