New Delhi: In one of the most bizzare scenes in a game of cricket, two bowlers were barred from bowling in response to pitch encroachment. During the match No.38 of the Big Bash League between Melbourne Renegades and Brisbane Heat at the Doklands Stadium in Melbourne, Renegades bowlers Will Sutherland and Fergus O’Neill were given the marching orders by the on-field umpires for the same fault.
Melbourne Renegades captain Sutherland was the first one to receive a warning for stepping on the danger area of the pitch. In the 12th over the Heat innings, Sutherland was smashed for three successive sixes by Matthew Renshaw. He wasn’t allowed to bowl the final ball of the over as on-field umpire Donovon Koch. Sutherland went expensive for 43 runs in 2.5 overs as he was smashed by three consecutive sixes in his early spell by Jack Wood.

The second instance happened in the 16th over where just Fergus O’Neill also stepped into the danger area of the pitch and was punished similarly by being forced to go off the attack. This is very rare instance where two bowlers are suspended from bowling in the same innings of a T20 match.
Wow. 😳

Brisbane Heat went on to post 196 for 4 after Renegades were two bowlers short thanks the handy cameos by Wood (45), Renshaw (40), and Tom Aslop (42). Nonetheless, the home team rode on the swashbuckling knock from Jake Fraser-McGurk (95 off 46 balls) to chase the huge score with two overs to spare.
