‘BJP will form govt in Tamil Nadu in 2026’, says Annamalai

Chennai: Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai on Wednesday ascertained that the BJP will emerge victorious and form government in Tamil Nadu in 2026. He expressed his dismay over not winning and sending a BJP member to the Lok Sabha from Tamil Nadu. He also said that BJP has seen a growth in Tamil Nadu and he and his party will retrospect and work hard to achieve success.

“Our goal is to take power in Tamil Nadu in 2026. In 2026, it will be a coalition government for the first time in Tamil Nadu politics. What the BJP has achieved in Tamil Nadu is not defeat. In some places, we have got votes in good places. We got the best position out of 23 places,” after the election results, BJP state president Annamalai spoke to the media at BJP HQs Kamalalayam in Chennai.

BJP state president K Annamalai was defeated by DMK’s Ganapathy Rajkumar by a margin of 1,18,068 votes in Coimbatore Lok Sabha seat. Rajkumar secured 5,68,200 votes including 2,772 postal votes, while Annamalai secured 4,50,132 votes including 2525 postal votes.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today after the cabinet meeting submitted his formal resignation to President Draupadi Murmu. Sources confirm that after the meeting of NDA allies this evening, Modi will be submitting the letter of support to the President staking a claim to form the government. If all goes well, he will take oath as the PM for the third time on Saturday.
