Defying the odds
By the 2023-24 season, Brest faced expectations of relegation but they defied all the odds and finished third in Ligue 1 and also secured a historic Champions League qualification. The achievement was nothing short of miraculous for a club with limited resources and infrastructure that barely met domestic standards.
Brest’s Champions League campaign has been equally surreal. With their home ground not meeting UEFA standards, they were forced to play their home matches 70 miles away in Guingamp. Despite these challenges, Brest has already claimed victories over Austrian sides Sturm Graz and Red Bull Salzburg, with upcoming matches against European giants Real Madrid and Barcelona in the new league phase. Before those games, they face Bayer Leverkusen in their third Champions League match today, aiming for a third win.

Brest will face Real Madrid on January 29 and travel to Camp Nou next month to face Barcelona.
The challenges ahead
While Brest’s rise has been nothing short of extraordinary, the club is fully aware of the challenges that lie ahead.
