New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday presented the Union Budget 2024 in the Parliament, announcing its four main focus areas as — employment, skilling, MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises), and the middle class. Sitharaman presented her record seventh Union Budget in the Modi government’s third tenure.
She said the government’s focus will be on these four areas to benefit the 4.1 crore youth population of the country. She stated that schemes and measures in these areas, both existing and forthcoming, will span a five-year period with a total funding allocation of ₹2 lakh crore.
Besides that, the Union Budget 2024 will provide incentives to around 30 lakh youth stepping into the job market by giving them one month’s Provident Fund (PF) contribution to their Permanent Account Number (PAN).

The government has set aside Rs 3 lakh crore for schemes that would benefit women and girls.
The finance minister said as per the Union Budget 2024, the government will set up working women’s hostels to promote women’s participation in the workforce.
