New Delhi: Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah on Wednesday became only the second Indian bowler after Ravichandran Ashwin to breach the 900 rating points in ICC Test rankings. With this, the ace pacer also achieved his highest-ever rating points in the ICC rankings on back of a remarkable performance in the third Test match against Australia at the Gabba, Brisbane.
The pace spreadhead, who finished with 9 wickets in the last Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, added 14 points to his tally, taking it to a total of 904 rating points. Ashwin, who recently retired from all the formats of cricket, had achieved the feat in in December 2016 after the fourth Test against England in Mumbai.
Bumrah’s majestic run in BGT
In the three BGT matches till now, Jasprit Bumrah has claimed a total of 21 wickets, which has helped him raise his lead at the top of the bowling rankings to 48 rating points. Formerly top-ranked bowlers Kagiso Rabada (856) and Josh Hazlewood (852) are placed second and third in the list respectively. Another Indian bowler Mohammed Siraj has taken a jump of one place to 24th.
Meanwhile, Aussie batter Travis Head’s 152-run knock in the first innings of the Brisbane Test has seem him overtake Indian sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal and jump to fourth spot on the batters’ list. The batting list is led by Englishman Joe Root. Steve Smith also entered into the top ten of the batting charts post his brilliant 101 in Brisbane. He now sits on the 10th position while Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has moved out of the top ten list.
Among the all-rounders list, India’s Ravindra Jadeja continues to be at the top of charts with 424 rating points in his kitty, while Australia captain Pat Cummins has earned his place back in the top-10, after his four wickets and 42 runs in the third Test at Gabba, Brisbane.
