New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs and clinched their maiden IPL trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3.  Chasing the target of 191 runs, PBKS got off to a great start as Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya forged a 43-run partnership for the opening wicket. Hazlewood dismissed Priyansh Arya on 24 runs and provided RCB with their first breakthrough.

Inglis batted well and scored 39 runs off 23 balls with the help of one boundary and four maximums. Krunal Pandya dismissed him and picked up his second wicket. Shreyas Iyer, Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh failed to make big contributions with the bat as RCB bowlers delivered a sensational performance at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Shashank played a great knock and scored an unbeaten 61 runs off 30 balls with the help of six maximums and three boundaries. But the other batters failed to score runs as PBKS fell 6 runs short of the target.

Earlier, RCB scored 190 runs in 20 overs. Jamieson removed Salt on 16 runs in the second over of the match. Virat tried to bat through, but Azmatullah Omarzai dismissed him on 43(35). Mayank and Rajat also played great knocks, but the cameo from Jitesh and Livingstone helped RCB to post a decent total on the scoreboard.

Arshdeep took 3 wickets and Jamieson also picked up three wickets while Omarzai, Vyshak and Chahal took one wicket each, but their batters failed to make a big contribution with the bat as RCB clinched their maiden IPL title.
