Cameron Green ruled out of England tour with back injury

New Delhi: Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has been ruled out of the ongoing tour of England due to a back injury. The all-rounder suffered a soreness after the completion of the third ODI match and scans revealed an injury to his back, prompting him to return home ahead of the crucial series against India.

At this moment it is unclear that whether or not this will impact his participation in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but his injury has certainly created a question mark on his near future. Cricket Australia said that the full extent of Green’s injury will be determined after his arrival in Perth, when he undergoes a full assessment. The first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is on November 22, in Perth, almost two months away.

Green’s all-round performance in 3rd ODI

In the third ODI at Chester-le-Street, Green put up an all-round show scoring 45 runs with the bat and also taking 2 for 45 with the ball. The all-rounder was rested from the second ODI against England at Leeds to manage his workload but he played all the three T20Is against the Scotland team. Australia have had a wretched tour of the UK so far in terms of number of injuries with Green becoming the fifth player they have lost after Nathan Ellis, Xavier Bartlett, Riley Meredith and Ben Dwarshuis.

Currently, Australia lead the 5-match T20I series 2-1, with the visitors registering thumping wins in the opening two matches while England pocketing the third one to keep the series alive. In the three-match T20I series, which took place between both the countries, Australian side won the opening encounter while the hosts took the second one with pride. The third and the deciding T20I was abandoned due to rain, which ended the series on 1-1.

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has been ruled out of the England tour with a back injury and the exact extent of his injury is still unknown.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
