A police officer dismissed the fan’s claims of getting beaten up and said that it was possibly a case of dehydration.

While the truth is yet to be revealed, the incident comes under the shadow of a potential security threat to the Bangladeshi players. The build-up to the second India-Bangladesh Test was overshadowed by reports of protests against the cricketers from Bangladesh in the aftermath of civil unrest, in which several Hindu families were targetted.

Meanwhile, only 35 overs of play was possible on Day 1 due to incessant rain. Bangladesh had lost three wickets for 137 before the players walked off due to bad light and light drizzle.
