New Delhi: Team India all-rounder Shivam Dube was brutally trolled online after his disappointing outing in the Super Eight clash against Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup 2024 on Thursday. Dube flopped once again in the middle-order as he could only manage 10 runs off 7 balls in the all-important game. The left-hander was trapped lbw by Rashid Khan.
Dube was preferred over Rinku Singh in India’s squad for the showpiece event, a decision that left many surprised. He was expected to repay the faith shown in him by the team management with consistent performances in the T20 World Cup 2024. However, he has been far from his best for India in the tournament so far and has struggled for runs.
After managing 34 runs in three matches in te group stage, Dube was expected to set the stage on fire against a spin-heavy Afghanistan side at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. The left-hander did smoke a big six but failed to convert his start into a big score as he was dismissed on 10 runs. Dube was brutally trolled online by fans following his dismal outing as fans urged the team management to give chances to Sanju Samson, who is on the bench.

India got off to a shaky start after opting to bat first in their Super 8 opener against Afghanistan as skipper Rohit Sharma was dismissed cheaply on just 8 runs off 13 balls in the third over. Virat Kohli too failed to notch up a big knock as he could only manage a run-a-ball 24 before being dismissed by Rashid in the 9th over.
Suryakumar Yadav turned out to be the saviour for India once again as he played a brilliant knock of 53 runs off 28 balls and combined with Hardik Pandya, who scored 32 off 28 balls to guide the Men in Blue to a strong total of 181/8 in 20 overs. The duo added 60 runs for the 5th wicket before Axar Patel’s late cameo of 6-ball 12 helped India cross the 180-run mark.
