‘Can’t take Bangladesh lightly’: Former cricketer warns Team India ahead of Test series

New Delhi: Team India will face Bangladesh in the two-match Test series, starting on September 19. Indian players are currently enjoying their long break while Bangladesh is playing against Pakistan in the Test series. Najmul and Co. defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets in the first Test in Rawalpindi and are leading the series by 1-0.

Most of the main Indian players will be back in action in the Duleep Trophy which is set to begin on September 5 in Anantpur and Bengaluru. Many star cricketers like Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan will feature in the tournament.

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina said that the players playing in the Duleep Trophy will get immense help and they will get know lot of things while playing in the tournament “Now, a team for Tests will be formed. Top players playing Duleep Trophy is a nice initiative by the BCCI. You get to know a lot of things when you play red-ball cricket” Raina said while speaking to ANI.

He also said that Rohit Sharma and Co. cannot take Bangladesh lightly as they have great spinners in their bowling attack “You cannot take Bangladesh lightly as they have a fine spin bowling attack and some good players who have done well for a long time. This series will be a fine match practice for the tour to Australia” he added.

Raina also praised Rishabh Pant for his passion, hard work, mentality and great determination. “The way he practises, he is doing very good wicket-keeping, he has batted very well and when you win the World Cup you know how much fun it is” added Raina.

India’s Test schedule

The Men in Blue will take on Bangladesh in the two-match Test series, starting on September 19. After that, Rohit and Co. will face New Zealand in the three-match Test series. Team India will also tour Australia for the five-match Test series in late November. The Indian cricket team is currently at the top of World Test Championship standings with six wins in nine matches.
