Carlos Alcaraz edges past Daniil Medvedev for second successive Wimbledon final spot

New Delhi: Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz once again proved his might with the racquet as he made a superb comeback from a set down to storm in the final of Wimbledon 2024. Alcaraz is the first male player outside of the ‘big four’ to make the final of both Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year.

The 21-year-old tennis giant is now one win away from a second successive Wimbledon title following his 6-7 , 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 victory against fifth seed Daniil Medvedev in Friday’s semi-final. Alcaraz showcased tremendous courage which resulted in a terrific comeback after going down in the first set against his Russian opponent.

While Medvedev looked promising in the opening set, the Spanish player reflected on his learnings to push the Russian against the wall in the remaining three sets. Alcaraz will face the either Serbian giant Novak Djokovic or Italian player Lorenzo Musetti in the final on Sunday.
