New Delhi: Arsenal’s victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday guaranteed them a spot in the Champions League semifinals. The Gunners won 2-1 in Madrid to complete a 5-1 aggregate victory after taking a 3-0 lead into the second leg. Despite an incredible comeback, Aston Villa’s hopes were dashed with their loss to Paris St-Germain, who will play Arsenal in the semifinals on Tuesday. With one of the most exciting squads in Europe this season, PSG might just be the favourites to lift this season’s Champions League trophy.

Inter Milan defeated Bayern Munich 4-3 on aggregate after tying the second leg 2-2, while Barcelona advanced to the semi-finals with a 5-3 aggregate victory over Borussia Dortmund, who won the second leg 3-1.

How does it stand and the fixtures

The semi finals of Champions League is quite star-studded with some of Euorpe’s finest teams will be competing against each other for the title. However, the dangerous Paris Saint-Germain will be facing the giant-slayers Arsenal while Barcelona, who have been the best team in this season’s Champions League will be going head to head against a rather underrated Inter Milan.

Arsenal’s game against PSG will be an interesting one. The Parisians are yet to defeat the Gunners in the European competitions as this will only be the fifth time that these two will be facing each other. The Gunners hold the advantage when it comes to head-to-head results in the past as they have won two out of the four clashes while other two ended in draws. The last time these two met was back in October 2024 during the initial stages of the competition where goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka were enough to seal the deal for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Meanwhile, it will be a familiar territory for Barcelona against Inter, as the two sides have shared an iconic rivalry in the competition. However, Barca have beaten the Nerazzuri on three occasions while Inter only have one win against the Catalan club. The last time these two faced was back in 2022 in a thrilling 3-3 draw in the group stages so it will be interesting to see how this big fixture pans out.
