Champions trophy stalemate ends, hybrid model final after IND-PAK agreement – Report

New Delhi: After months of speculations and suspense, the Champions Trophy 2025 row has finally reached the point of settlement as the International Cricket Council (ICC) has finalised a hybrid model for the tournament, as per a report. This comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) finally arrived at conclusive agreement for the event.

In a post tweeted by Vikrant Gupta, Managing Editor Aaj Tak/Sports Tak, it has been notified that apart from Pakistan, Dubai has been chosen as the other host nation for the big ICC event which is scheduled to start on February 19, 2025. That means, India will not travel to the neighbouring nation and instead play all their matches in Dubai while the knockout matches will be hosted in India only.

BCCI agrees to PCB’s demands

Both the BCCI and PCB in principle have also agreed for the T20 World Cup 2026 that Pakistan will not travel for the game against India and that will be played in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The post also mentions there will be no compensation for the PCB but they will get to host an ICC Women’s tournament after 2027.

Meanwhile as per multiple media reports, The Emirates Cricket Board was closely monitoring the situation and each development with regards to the marquee ICC event as they had a prior clue of Dubai being shortlisted as the other host member apart from Pakistan. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had also met Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss the matter.
