Chennai: Rains lashed parts of Chennai on Wednesday, June 5, afternoon as a cyclonic circulation off south AP and north Tamil Nadu coasts triggered the wet spell. Light, moderate rains in Chennai and heavy rainfall in other north Tamil Nadu districts are forecast for June 6, according Chennai Regional Metrological centre (RMC).

The IMD station at Chembarambakkam recorded 85 mm rain from the spell today evening of which 65 mm fell in one hour. Few other weather stations also in southern parts / suburbs of Chennai recorded more than 5 cms in the last couple of hours.
“Rains have more or less come to an end over Chennai stretch between Chengalpattu and Tindivanam might see rains over the next hour or so,” Chennai based weather blogger K Srikanth predicted.
