Cheteshwar Pujara showcases excellence with 18th double ton in first-class cricket

New Delhi: Cheteshwar Pujara proved the saying ‘form is temporary, class is permanent’ absolutely right by slamming a remarkable double century in the ongoing Ranji Trophy encounter between Saurashtra and Chhattisgarh at Rajkot. This was Pujara’s 18th double ton in first-class cricket, the most by an Indian player till date.

In reply to Chhattisgarh’s 578/7d, Pujara with his classic double ton helped his team Saurashtra cross the 400-run mark with ease on Monday. The veteran batter stood tall, holding on to one end firmly as 5 wickets of the side fell from the other end. As far as the elite list of Indian players with most double tons in first-class cricket is concerned, Pujara leads it with 18 centuries in his kitty while legendary Vijay Merchant is the next batter in the list with 11 double centuries in first-class cricket.
