Chinese and Russian coast guards held joint drills and patrols in the North Pacific Ocean recently, Chinese state media CCTV reported on Sunday.
In a statement, China’s Coast Guard said the exercises involved inspections of fishing vessels operating in the region, in accordance with the Convention on the Conservation and Management of High Seas Fisheries Resources in the North Pacific Ocean..
The operation was aimed at maintaining order in high seas fisheries, state media reported.
Throughout the mission, the fleet also conducted joint search and rescue operations, damage control drills, and exercises to locate illegal vessels, CCTV said.
The formation set off on September 21 from Russia, after completing a four-day joint drill in the Peter the Great Gulf in the Primorsky Region from September 16-20.
