New Delhi: Batting coach JP Duminy turned back the clock with some exceptional efforts on the field after coming on as a substitute fielder for South Africa during their 3rd ODI against Ireland at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Monday. Duminy had to take the field after several South African players were left exhausted due to the excessive heat in Abu Dhabi.
Duminy, who retired from international cricket in 2019, came on as a substitute fielder during the final over of Ireland’s innings in Abu Dhabi. The South Africa batting coach got into the thick of action quickly and was seen diving to stop a shot from Irish batter Harry Tector, who tried to play a reverse sweep against pacer Andile Phehlukwayo.
Duminy, who was feeding at short third, moved towards his left and dived full stretch to stop the ball in what was a great effort from the 40-year-old.

Ireland thrash South Africa by 69 runs
Ireland defeated South Africa comprehensively by 69 runs in the 3rd ODI with the help of terrific knocks from Paul Stirling and Harry Tector. Stirling slammed an 88-run knock of 92 balls and provided Ireland with a cracking start at the top, combining with his opening partner Andrew Balbirnie, who scored 45 off 73 balls.
The duo added 101 runs for the 1st wicket before Stirling combined with Curtis Campher (34) to post a 58-run stand for the second wicket. After Stirling’s departure, Tector took control of Ireland’s innings and helped them post 284 runs on the board in 50 overs with the help of his 60 off 48 balls.
After a top-order failure, Jason Smith played a brilliant knock of 91 runs, however, it was not enough as South Africa were skittled out for a paltry 215 runs to lose the game by 69 runs. Graham Hume and Craig Young were the pick of the bowlers for Ireland as they picked up three wickets apiece to run riot against the Proteas.
After suffering back-to-back defeats in the first two matches, Ireland managed to end the three-match series on a high with a consolation victory in the final 3rd ODI.
