New Delhi: A police complaint has been lodged against former Team India cricketers Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina for allegedly mocking people with disabilities in a viral video.
The retired cricketers had uploaded a reel on their Instagram profile where they limped to the beats of the popular song ‘Tauba-Tauba’ from upcoming film Bad Newzz.
Their act was meant to depict the injuries that have taken a toll on their body throughout their careers but instead has landed them in controversy.
The trio recently participated in an exhibition tournament named World Championship of Legends and were part of the victorious Indian team.
But the video evoled strone reactions with para-badminton star Manasi Joshi criticising the cricketers for mocking differently-abled people after which Harbhajan apologised and deleted the reel, insisting their intention wasn’t to offend anyone.

Now, National Council for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People has filed a complaint for showing over 10 crore disable people of the country in poor light.’
Executive Director of NCPEDP Arman Ali has lodged the complaint with the Amar Colony police station in New Delhi against Instagram for violating the Information Technology Act.
“…When I saw the video of Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina where they were pretending like disabled, kind of mockery on a viral song, I think it’s an insult to more than 10 crore disabled people of India,” Ali said, as quoted by News18.com.
He pointed out that since Harbhajan who is a Rajya Sabha MP, he should be taking initiatives to spread awareness for the disabled.
“Harbhajan Singh is an MP, and he should raise his voice for the disabled, but what kind of video he is making?… In India, there is an acute lack of awareness concerning disabilities. You are spreading myth and making fun of them and that’s why I have filed a complaint…,” he said.
