Many complaints have been filed before President Draupadi Murmu seeking the disqualification of AIMIM leader and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, who raised the slogan of ‘Jai Palestine’ after taking oath in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
One of the complaints is filed by Supreme Court lawyer Alakh Alok Srivastava, who claims that Owaisi displayed ‘allegiance to a foreign country’.
In his complaint, Srivastava said that by publicly raising Pro-Palestine slogan ‘Jai Palestine’ in the Indian Parliament, Owaisi demonstrated his allegiance to a foreign country. He states in his complaint that the Owaisi is liable for disqualification from being an MP as per Article 102 (d) of the constitution of India, which disqualifies members if a person is under ‘any acknowledgement of allegiance or adherence to a foreign state.’
The advocate-on-record also noted that Owaisi has been consistent in his support, allegiance and adherence for to the said foreign state for the last many years.
On Tuesday, the Hyderabad MP said ‘Jai Bhim, Jai Mim, Jai Telangana, Jai Palestine and Allahu Akbar’ after taking his oath in Urdu.
