New Delhi: Conor McGregor is not new to controversies and is someone who can lose his temper quickly. The double UFC champion has landed in trouble once again after he was caught on camera spitting on the face of a fan who came up with a chant supporting Khabib Nurmagomedov in front of the Irishman. The incident happened in a hotel in Las Vegas where McGregor was present with his team.

Khabib and McGregor have been fierce rivals in the UFC ever since the Russian defeated the Irishman in one of the most talked-about fights in 2018. The two have since shared numerous jibes against each other as the rivalry continues to intensify. Adding a new chapter to their rivalry, McGregor lost his cool and spat at a fan, who was supporting Khabib with chants for the Russian in front of the Irish superstar.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, McGregor can be seen walking with his team at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas when a fan shouts “Let’s go Khabib” from the back. The chant instantly draws the attention of McGregor, who decides to confront the fan. The 36-year-old approaches the fans and goes on to spit on his face.

“I spit in your face, and what did you do? Nothing,” McGregor tells the fan, who took a couple of seconds to come to terms with what happened to him.

McGregor and Khabib’s rivalry was reignited recently after Irish fighter Paul Hughes recently fought with Usman Nurmagomedov, who is the cousin of the former lightweight champion. Though Usman managed to beat Hughes, the Irish star gave the Russian a run for his money in their PFL lightweight title clash at the PFL Road to Dubai last month.

Will Conor McGregor return to UFC this year?

Despite having not stepped into the ring for over three years now, McGregor still enjoys a huge fan base across the globe. He last fought against Dustin Poirier in 2021 when he suffered a freak leg injury which forced him on the sidelines for months. McGregor is yet to make his UFC comeback with fans waiting in anticipation on his much-awaited return.

While multiple reports suggested McGregor might make his UFC comeback this year, UFC CEO Dana White recently gave an uninspiring update on his return. “Conor? I’m not sure when Conor will be back,” White told reporters when asked about McGregor’s potential comeback last week.
