New Delhi: The Copa America has reached its thrilling semi-final stage featuring the defending champions Argentina, hosts Canada, Colombia and Uruguay.
Argentina will look to secure their third consecutive major title, and surprise visitors Canada will kick off semifinals proceedings in New Jersey on July 10. On Thursday, Uruguay will face off Colombia, who have an impressive unbeaten streak of 27 games after a 5-0 victory over Panama.
Argentina and Uruguay, each with 15 Copa America titles, will aim to break the deadlock and emerge as the tournament’s most successful nation. Colombia will look to hold a solitary title from 2001, while debutants Canada will look to grab the first.
Argentina, despite not hitting their top form and Lionel Messi missing his spot kick they still remain favourite against Canada and winning the third consecutive major title. Argentina has beaten Canada in the group stage and will look to repeat the same.
Uruguay on the other hand, despite injuries and suspension, have made it to the semis. Beating Brazil by 4-2 on penalties. But Colombia are a tough opponent as they showed no mercy and thrashed the opponent Panama by 5-0 in the third quarter final match. Colombia are playing clinical football at the moment and are set to take on Uruguay and keep their winning streak going.
