Defending champions KKR knocked out of IPL 2025 after clash vs RCB abandoned due to rain

New Delhi: In what turned out to be utter disappointment for Kolkata Knight Riders and their fans, the defending champions were knocked out of Indian Premier League 2025 after their clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to torrential rain in Bengaluru on Saturday. RCB moved a step closer to the playoffs after both sides were forced to share a point each.

The IPL, which was suspended for 10 days due to India-Pakistan tensions and was supposed to resume on May 17, witnessed a disappointing return as rain played a spoilsport at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium not allowing even the toss to take place. By virtue of the outcome of the game, RCB top the table with 17 points while KKR are on the 6th position with 12 points.
