New Delhi: The biggest rematch in the Light Heavyweight division took place between Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh on February 23, Sunday. Beterbiev handed the first career loss to Bivol in the first fight between them and became the Undisputed Light Heavyweight World Champion.
The Undisputed Championship was on the line and Bivol started the bout on a strong note and landed some nasty jabs early in the fight. Bivol was keeping the pace of the fight high unlikely compared to the first fight.
Beterbiev showed the power in the later rounds and attacked the body of Bivol. The Russian was looking for a knockout win but Bivol was avoiding the power of Beterbiev.
In the seventh round, Bivol landed some perfect jabs and a beautiful combination and broke the defence of Beterbiev. The pace of the bout was the highlight of the fight as no one was slowed down during the bout.
In the end moments of the fight, the momentum was shifted towards Bivol and Bivol was looking for a TKO in the final round of the fight and fired some nasty punches at the end of the bout.
Bivol won the fight via majority decision as the judges scored the fight as 116-112, 115-113, and 114-114 in favor of Bivol. He was successful in avenging his only career loss which came against the same Beterbiev.
