EaseMyTrip share price down amid CEO reshuffle: Why Nishant Pitti resigned

New Delhi: Easy Trip Planners’ co-promoter Nishant Pitti resigned as CEO of the company which owns travel booking platform EaseMyTrip effective January 1, 2025. Nishant stepped down as CEO citing personal reasons. He will be succeeded by brother Rikant with immediate effect.

On Tuesday, December 31, 2024, Nishant sold 4.99 crore shares equalling a 1.41 per cent stake in the company for Rs 78.32 crore, shaving his stake in the EaseMyTrip parent company to 12.8 per cent. This has depleted the overall promoter shareholding to 48.97 per cent from 50.38 per cent earlier.

Easy Trip Planners MD Prashant Pitti said in the September quarter earnings call that the family’s interests were aligned with those of shareholders’ interests and how the promoter holdings remained above 50 per cent compared to other Internet companies where founders have only 2-10 per cent shareholding.

Who is Rikant Pittie?

Nishant Pitti’s brother Rikant Pittie is the co-founder of EaseMyTrip.com and currently serves as its CFO. Rikant is a qualified engineer with a BTech degree in Electronics. His passion for travel fuelled his foray into the travel ticketing platform. He completed his BTech degree from Kurukshetra University in 2010 and wen to Vivekanand School prior to that.

In a post on social media platform LinkedIn, Rikant stated taht he was thrilled to start the New Year as EasyMyTrip.com’s CEO. He thanked his brithers Nishant and Prashant for their unwavering belief in him. Rikant credits the platform’s customer-first approach for its success. EaseMyTrip plans to focus oin a range of services from personalisation to a seamless booking experience, he added.
