In the month of Ashadha, Yogini Ekadashi falls in Krishna Paksha and will be observed on July 2, 2024. Vaishnavs worship Lakshmi Narayan with elaborate rituals on this day, believing they will receive the blessings of Lord Vishnu.

The Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha in Ashadha month begins at 10:26 AM on July 1 and ends at 8:42 AM on July 2. Therefore, the Yogini Ekadashi fast will be observed on July 2.

Four Auspicious Yogas on Yogini Ekadashi 2024

This year, four auspicious yogas (combinations) are forming on Yogini Ekadashi, and it is recommended to observe the Ekadashi fast with a pure heart to avoid financial hardships.

Dhriti Yoga: Occurs until 11:17 AM. Following this, Shool Yoga begins. Worshipping Lord Vishnu during Dhriti Yoga brings numerous benefits.
Tripushkar Yoga: Begins at 8:37 AM on July 2 and ends at 4:40 AM on July 3.
Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga: Starts at 5:27 AM and ends at 4:40 AM on July 3. Worshipping Lord Vishnu during this yoga grants devotees their desired results.
Shivvas Yoga: Formed on this day with Shiva residing on Mount Kailash until 8:42 AM, then on Nandi. Performing Abhishek during this period ensures all endeavours are successful.

Significance of Yogini Ekadashi 2024

Annually, 24 Ekadashi fasts are observed, all dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Worshipping Him on these days is considered highly auspicious. Some devotees also observe a Nirjala (waterless) fast. Fasting on Ekadashi is believed to bring blessings from both Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, making the significance of Yogini Ekadashi in Ashadha even greater.

Yogini Ekadashi is observed in Ashadha month on Krishna Paksha Ekadashi. Devotees believe they are freed from sin by worshipping Lord Vishnu on this day and that observing this fast will grant them a place at Lord Vishnu’s feet after death. Fasting on this day is also said to be equivalent to feeding 88,000 Brahmins.

Yogini Ekadashi Puja Vidhi

On Yogini Ekadashi, it is prescribed to worship Lord Vishnu and the Peepal tree. Devotees should bathe early in the morning and wear yellow clothes for greater auspiciousness. They should meditate on Lord Vishnu, take a vow for the fast, and perform the puja according to rituals, reading the Yogini Ekadashi Vrat Katha. Later, they should perform aarti of Lord Vishnu and offer food and donations to the needy, pleasing the deity.

Yogini Ekadashi Vrat Rules

On Yogini Ekadashi, grains should not be consumed, and rice should be avoided even by those who do not observe the fast. Hair cutting, nail cutting, and shaving should be avoided. Donations to Brahmins are considered auspicious, and donating grains after breaking the fast is beneficial.
