Ethan Nwaneri becomes Arsenal’s third youngest player to start a Premier League game

New Delhi: Over the years, we have seen some of the top Arsenal talents lighting up the Premier League and this time we have something special in Arsenal’s teenager, Ethan Nwneri who makes his first ever league start for the Gunners against Brentford. After Cesc Fabregas (17 years and 103 days) and Theo Walcott (17 years and 212 days), Nwaneri, who is 17 years and 286 days old, becomes the third-youngest player to ever start an Arsenal Premier League match.

It is truly astonishing what he has been doing at the London club at such a young age as the talented winger will be looking to make an impact on the pitch. He made his first ever senior appearance back in September 2024, when Arsenal were facing their London rivals Tottenham, as the teenager came onto the pitch in the final stages of the game. In that same month, the youngster scored his first and second ever goal for the Gunners in a 5-1 EFL Cup triumph against League 1 side, Bolton Wanderers.

His first ever Premier League goal came against Nottingham back in November 2024, when he was brought on to the pitch for just eight minutes, as the Gunners won the match 3-0. However, 2025 has earned him a first league start already, and he certainly hasn’t disappointed with his pace, acceleration and flair on the pitch.

Will we see more of Nwaneri in the upcoming games?

With Bukayo Saka out for almost two months, there is no doubt about the fact that Arteta will be looking to give his young forward some more minutes. It would be a good chance for him to evaluate the growth of Nwaneri, who seems like a wonderful talent for the Gunners. It will be interesting to see if Arteta would be willing to put his faith on the teenager who has so much to offer to the team. His goal against Nottingham shows that he is maturing quick, and his development will be something that would benefit this Arsenal squad. In the upcoming games, the 17-year-old might prove to be handy for Arteta’s side.
