New Delhi: Nottingham Forest are set to face Manchester City as they play their first FA Cup semi-final in 34 years, as Crystal Palace take on Aston Villa. The Tricky Trees come to the final four after winning their game against Brighton and Hove Albion in a penalty shootout.

For Nottingham, it is a big achievement after finishing just above the Premier League relegation spot last season, with a difference of six points, following points deduction and being out of the two domestic cup competitions. At Amex Stadium, it was Matz Sels who made crucial saves to help Forest through. If they are able to bring the cup, it would be their first FA Cup win since 1959.

There are many other things to celebrate for Nottingham Forest as they close in on their first European appearance in 28 years, well placed at third for a return to the Champions League. Nottingham will be facing seven-time winners Man City.

City managed to go past Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday, keeping their contention for silverware alive after a disastrous season. Pep Guardiola has now led his side to seven consecutive FA Cup semi-finals.

Villa too found themselves in the semi-finals after Marcus Rashford’s brace in five minutes, winning by a margin of 3-0. This marks Villa’s first appearance in the FA Cup, last four since 204-15, when they reached the finals and lost to Arsenal. Their last FA Cup triumph was in 1957, their seventh title, and they have since made two final appearances. At Craven Cottage, Eberechi Eze was the star for Palace, with Fulham offering not much in defence, ultimately losing 3-0.
